Faculty Coordinator's Message
As India’s G20 Presidency marks a historic transition for India- from being a mere rule-taker to now a rule-maker, we at JB believe in providing such platforms and opportunities to our students which allow them to challenge and develop into inspiring, informed future leaders, who have the power to effect change in the world.
“Being challenged in life is inevitable, but being defeated is optional.”
As Faculty Coordinator of this event, I have seen the JB G20 Secretariat transition from learners to leaders, which was only made possible with their fearless can-do attitude and bold spirit. They soon learnt about the G20 procedures, formats and guidelines and have become competent in handling this new unchartered territory called the G20. I commend my Secretariat for choosing not to be defeated by the challenge, but rather to look forward to it with courage and enthusiasm.
At JB, we believe that every child is unique and truly special in his/her own way, and by providing them this kind of an opportunity, they have the freedom to manifest their innate potential and understand their strengths, talent, and passions. Such opportunities build strong independent youth who have the power and the courage to make the rules and not merely accept them.
I invite the youth of the world to deliberate, dictate and decide your future. The future you wish to live in. The future you wish to mould for your future generations to experience, be inspired by and learn from.
Looking forward to meeting you at the event!

Day one of our JB Petit Model G20 opened with a motivating video clip of Mr. Amitabh Kant, the G20 Sherpa – The Government of India. He congratulated J B Petit and lauded our school’s effort in being the first ever school to organize a Model G20 on campus, in collaboration with one of the leading think tanks in the country. He reiterated our respected Prime Minister’s words that India’s G20 Presidency will be inclusive, decisive, ambitious, and action-oriented. He highlighted the six thematic priorities of India’s G20 Presidency- green development, resilient growth, sustainable development goals (SDGs), technological transformation, multilateralism, and women-led development.
He said that India’s G20 priorities are inclusive, resilient, and sustainable growth, as it is only with growth that we can provide a better livelihood to the citizens of the world. He threw light upon accelerating the pace of sustainable development goals, climate action and climate finance, lifestyle sustainability, restructuring multi-lateral institutions to focus on sustainability and pool in private capital through new instruments such as blended finance, credit enhancement, etc. Digital transformation to provide identity to all our citizens through digital infrastructure such as UPI, Digital Lockers, fast payments, COWIN are all free of charge, and must be explored by other countries for personal and economic growth. With 50% of the population being women, their role is critical, and therefore inclusion of women led development can contribute towards increased financial inclusion and digital transformation.
As India will be hosting the Leaders’ Summit this year, he invited student inputs, feedback, and suggestions to be sent to him for taking them forward. We were truly honored to have his support in this pioneering initiative.

Mr. Amitabh Kant’s Speech

Secretary General
Dear Participants,
It is with great pleasure that I, on behalf of the school secretariat, welcome you to the JB Model G20 2023!
December 1st, 2022 was a momentous day as India assumed the presidency of the G20, taking over from Indonesia. Soon after the ceremony PM Narendra Modi took to the podium to assure global citizens of the inclusive and ambitious role that India planned to play as President of the G20, with the following words,
“As India assumes this important mantle (as President of the G20) I ask myself- can the G20 go further still? Can we catalyze a fundamental mindset shift to benefit humanity as a whole? I believe we can.”
- PM Narendra Modi
As the largest democracy in the world, and the fastest growing economy, India's G20 presidency will play a crucial role in building upon the significant achievements of the previous 17 presidencies. India’s agenda this year is ambitious, inclusive, decisive, and action-oriented, something that we have attempted to mirror in our JB Model G20.
At the J.B. Petit High School for girls we are nurtured in the ethos of Ubuntu, a philosophy that supports collectivism over individualism. Individual achievement means little, if society does not benefit. Individual economic gain is meaningless without the economic advancement of the world. Lastly, there is no individual success if the world does not progress. We are the youth of a ruthlessly competitive world that teaches us to run the fastest, jump the highest and chase the impossible in order to survive. Our worth is measured not by how high we rank but by the amount of people that ranked below us. This November, I ask you to take a step back from this chaos and cultivate something far more valuable within yourselves, the ability to look beyond personal gain and into collective prosperity. The representative of each nation and organisation at the JB Model G20 this year, will be challenged with the task of ensuring that their national interests do not overshadow the fulfilment of a common worldwide goal.
The theme for India’s presidency of the G20, One Earth, One Family, One Future, is inspired by the Sanskrit phrase Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family). The theme resonates with our ancient philosophy and sets the course for a joint call for responsibility, action and prosperity.
To all our participants, I cannot tell you how incredibly fortunate you are to have this platform to learn and grow. Use the opportunity that this conference provides you with to immerse yourselves in the role of a diplomat. Remember that the rationality, morality and feasibility of your ideas are of utmost importance. Most importantly, don’t forget to enjoy your time at the conference and interact with your fellow participants. With this, I wish you all the very best and look forward to seeing you in November.

From the Principal's Desk
At The J B Petit High School, we firmly believe that an educational institution must provide space for multiple perspectives and voices, and create an environment in which every student can thrive. It is with this thought in mind that we take great pride in hosting an Inter School G20 simulation- the JB Model G20, featuring a dynamic conclave of students who will engage in enriching discussions on the contemporary issues of our times, and therein embody this philosophy.
Thoughtful debate and discussion are the true foundation for meaningful action. I have no doubt that the experience will provide a rich and unique platform for young students to develop a sharper appreciation of the world, and its challenges and opportunities, as they explore the immense potential of the G20.
As Principal of the JB Petit High School for Girls, I warmly extend this invitation for students to participate in the JB G20 Summit.
